August 13, 2014

Kiwanis Aktion Club-Service in Action

The public is invited to an informational meeting to kick off the chartering process of forming the new LIFTT Aktion Club. Kiwanis Aktion club is the newest service leadership program developed by Kiwanis International to provide adults living with disabilities an opportunity to play a more active role in their communities through leadership development and service.

Aktion Clubs are also the fastest growing clubs in the Kiwanis Family with approximately 500 clubs and over 11,000 members worldwide. The mission of of Aktion Club is: To provide these adults an opportunity to develop initiative and leadership skills, to serve their community, to be integrated into society, and to demonstrate the dignity and value of citizens living with disabilities.

Aktion Club members strive to return to their communities the benefits, help, and caring they have received, as well as develop important skills in the process.

“Everybody wants a place to belong” according to Joe Burst LIFTT Executive Director and Kiwanis Aktion Club District Administrator.  “Aktion Club can be that place.  A place where people get together with friends, learn new skills and provide important service to the community. Aktion Club is a club for people of all abilities.  It is for people who want to use their gifts and talents to make the world a better place. When you join an Aktion Club, you are joining the Kiwanis family who are a group of people who are dedicated to changing the world one community at a time.”

The Billings Golden K Kiwanis Club has agreed to sponsor the new Aktion Club and help the club and its members thrive in the community.

The informational meeting will be held at the LIFTT office 1201 Grand Avenue Ste.1  on Friday August 22  at 10:00 a.m. & another session at 2:00 p.m.
