Systems Advocacy
LIFTT provides two types of advocacy services, individual and systems
advocacy.
People with disabilities often have to work with a large number of systems in
their lives. These systems can range from social security to
vocational rehabilitation, from the public schools to private employers.
LIFTT provides individual advocacy services to persons with
disabilities as they travel the road to independence.
LIFTT teaches self-advocacy skills to persons with disabilities and then
provides support to the person as they spread their wings and use these
skills.
LIFTT works on a local, state, and national level to change the systems
that provide services with disabilities. We work on system change and
legislative activities that promote the independence of people of
disabilities.
